Hurricane Ivan Flood

Hurricane Ivan affected a lot of people and places. While we did not have any wind, we did receive lots of rain. Downtown Pittsburgh received 7 inches of rain over a period of roughly 24 hours. This is on top of the 4 inches of rain that the area got earlier from Hurricane Francis. The area that we live in got 4-5 inches of rain from Ivan. We did not have any flooding ourselves but there were a lot who did that lived within 15-20 minutes from us. Any who lived near a creek or river got flooded.
The rain had started Friday early morning and continued the whole day.On my drive home from work on Friday evening it took me almost 2 hours to get home as there were road closures due to flooding and landslides already. These pictures are from Saturday about 2:00 PM and the water level in the pictures has already receded about 2 feet from the peak level.

Senaca Valley School Video Clip
The video clip is from Ashley's and Tyler's school playing fields. There is a little creek that runs along the property. Tyler had just played soccer on those fields on Thursday. Just click the play button to view the video again. I had to pan pretty quickly as the camera was out of memory at this point.

End of the road video clip
The road just ended here and the water continued on. You can see the car in the middle with just the roof showing.

creek video clip
This used to be just a creek.

Water, water and more water.

These three pictures are from the same area, just different sections.

The same for these three pictures.

Another street ending in water.

The creek was on this side of the trees before the flood.

These pictures were from our digital camera. I will post more once we get the pictures from our regular camera developed. I also might get more digital ones next weekend once the water recedes just to show the difference.
