May 2002

This roll of pictures went by pretty quick. We just bought a swimming pool that we are hoping to use plenty during the summer.

Digging the hole
This was sure a lot of work digging this big hole for the swimming pool by hand. My back is sooo sore!! :) Ha I don't think so. We had a contractor come in with a backhoe and a 1 ton truck. They took out about 40-50 loads of dirt and dumped it into a neighbors backyard which helped them extend it out farther. The truck sure killed the part of the lawn he was driving on. I was expecting some but I will definitely have to rototill it again and reseed.

Pool Installation
All ready for the installation of the pool.

Pool Installation
They have arrived and unloaded some equipment. The have to get the bottom completely level. I was responsible to get it within 3 inches or else they charge a leveling fee of $20 per inch!

Pool Installation
Digging out for the perimeter base pads.

Pool Installation
They put sand on top of the level ground.

Pool Installation
Surveying equipment to make sure it is level.

Pool Installation
They have the pool walls up and now they are spreading the sand.

Pool Installation
Still spreading.

Ditch Digging
The pool installers are done and we are filling the pool up with a garden hose. (It took about 37 hours to get the pool filled.) Now I have to put a french drain around the pool so that any big rains will not wash out the bottom of the pool.

Ditch Digging
There were a lot of wheelbarrows of dirt and it took the whole day to dig.

Swimming
One of the first swims.

Swimming
I had to join them. It is still pretty chilly as the water has not had much time to warm up yet.
